Fence Friday: Take me home, country roads…

On our recent trip to Roanoke, Virginia (USA), we got off the highway and did a very nice stretch of road in West Virginia (WV State Rt. 259, I think) before we got on the Blue Ridge Parkway.  I saw lots and lots of fences along the way on that road and on the Blue Ridge Parkway.  I’ll post the ones I like best today.

The John Denver song “Country Roads” kept going through my mind as we traveled down through West Virginia.  He calls it “almost heaven.”  They call it “wild and wonderful.”  I just call it beautiful.   There is another place I need to get back to with my camera and time to spare.

And, of course, the Blue Ridge Parkway is just one of the most extraordinary country roads in the whole USA.

So here they are…fences along some country roads.

Either in Virginia or West Virginia

I'm cheating.  This one is near Chambersburg, Pennsylvania

They're all very beautiful, indeed, but I LOVE the 3rd shot, very dramatic shot in b&w! =)

I like that barbed wire fence one. for some reason reminds me of the film Shawshank Redemption, dont ask me why but i think its to do with the look of coldness and isolation

These are beautiful. I have to confess, I love the old stacked rails of the fences in Virginia. Your last photo from Pennsylvania is magnificent against that sky.

These are all wonderful, but I'm partial to the picket fence! I know I'm a dreamer. Great shots!

It's almost impossible to take a bad photo from the Blueridge MT. Parkway, don't you agree? You've captured such an interesting variety, including, I think, a runaway truck lane? :-)

The last one looks like a waterfall.

these are spectacular, in the first shot i like the houses better than the fence, the last one is awesome, i like all your fence shots and rather see them than my boring fences in the jungle.
