Yesterday, Greg and I drove down to Griswold, Connecticut
even though it wasn’t the best of days.
We wanted to see the sunflower fields at Buttonwood Farm before the
owners of the farm let the cows loose in the fields at 5:00 p.m. today.
Since 2004, ten acres of the farm has been planted with
sunflowers. At first, the Buttonwood
Farm owners did it just for the beauty of the display, but now they ask for a
$5.00 donation from the sunflower admirers and 100% of the donations go to the Make a Wish Foundation.
I love sunflowers and find them to be extremely photogenic
in all their phases. I hope you enjoy
these photos as much as I enjoyed taking them.
And if you ever find yourself in Griswold, Connecticut, between July 21
and July 29 (or in our case July 31), it’s worth a trip to Buttonwood Farms,
not just for the sunflowers, but also for some of the best homemade ice cream I’ve
ever tasted.

that's really beautiful! and i like that the farmer has turned it into a fundraiser for a great cause!
I love this post. I agree that they are photogenic in each phase. Beautiful and beautiful cause.
Stunning Sunflower Art! all that beauty, a worthy cause plus the cows get dessert and so did you
these are just stunning!! they would look wonderful framed and hung as a collage!!
That first shot is fabulous. I would so love to have a field of sunflowers available as I completely agree with you that they are photogenic at every stage. I have to say that a shot of the cows grazing in a sunflower field with the barn in the background would be pretty cool too.
just gorgeous. lovely shots. just love sunflowers. (:
Fabulous, fantastic sunny favorite sunflower pics. Beautiful.
I sent your link to my non blog friend to see...she loves sunflowers.
Your pictures are amazing ! Great work ! Please have you all a good new month.
Amo tudo isso. Flor da felicidade!
Barbara, sunflowers are such wonderful flowers to photograph and your series was great. Are they planted every year at the CT farm? We have family living in New London, CT and maybe next year can plan a trip when they are in bloom again. What a great idea the farm owner had to charge a donation fee.
And, thnks for stopping to visit the F&P, please return anytime!
These are just gorgeous photos Barbara. I'd go for the sunflowers and the ice cream too!
Gorgeous, Barbara! Love the shot with the barn in the background! I haven't seen a sunflower field in a very long time.
