Color in winter…

I think I know why a lot of people don’t like winter.  I think it has to do with the landscape being so dull and brown and colorless in comparison to landscapes in spring, summer and fall.  It can be pretty depressing.  But winter does have its color.  You just have to search around for it.  Granted, on a day like today here in Central Massachusetts, it would be hard to find.  It’s very dull, grey and foggy out.  But yesterday!  Yesterday was glorious!  The sky was blue, the air was clear and it was downright beautiful out.  I convinced Greg that we needed to go for a short ride after lunch and here are some of the things we saw.

And even at home, the air hummed with color.
The white background just makes everything look bright.

I'd say that Nemo dropped about half a barn door of snow on us.
But it was beautiful on that sunny day!

Beautiful photos, Barbara! I love the stark trees in the snow and the wet winding road. One only has to look and find beauty and colour in the winter. Pamela

You may or may not think I am crazy...but I absolutely love that barn door shot....just something about it.

You found the beauty! Your cardinal shot is stunning as is your barn door. I thought you got more then six inches, we got about a foot but it melted quickly and with today's rain, it is all gone!

Shane offered to take a short road trip last night but it was way too late... I need to do this soon. Lovely snowy images Barb!

I will say that the snow also helps to brighten up and balance the brown - and you are right about the color being there as it would seem that winter months seem to present crisper, bluer skies. Love that road image - nice.

Personally, I LOVE the colours of winter and like the challenge of taking photos this time of year. True, they are not always successful...but that's also true of my summertime photos. :)
