This Vehicle Stops for Barns...

Yesterday, for some reason, I was determined to get a photo of a barn in East Brookfield that I really love and pass on my way to and from church.  I didn't remember to stop on the way to church, so I had to do it on the way home.  Turns out, I had to go around the "block" three times in order to ditch the cars that were following me.  I'm surprised that the people across the street from this barn didn't call the police thinking I was some kind of stalker or something.  Even with three chances, I didn't get a really good shot off because, lo and behold, third time around, there was a car coming up pretty quickly in the distance.  I thought I could do this all day and never be free of traffic so I went with what I managed to get.  Here it is:

Later on, I was looking through my Facebook page and saw the following photo on "FotoBridge" one of the photography pages I like on there:

I found the discussion about this window sticker pretty interesting.  Instead of finding the humor in it, most people fretted that it would give away that the person in this car has a car full of expensive camera equipment and doesn't mind advertising it for all the thieves to see.  I guess I can see the point.  I don't generally leave my camera in the car but I guess if I did, I wouldn't want this sticker to advertise the fact that I do.  Still...this could have come in handy for me yesterday when I was trying to get a decent photo of that darn barn.

guess you just need the magnetic sign version then. slap it on before you hit the road, and voila! :)

i always get the mad-dash country pickups behind me when i'm trying to dilly-dally for photos.

you did good, considering!

Funny, the last thing I would think of when I see that sticker is expensive camera equipment. The first thing I would think of is someone who would suddenly veer off to one side of the road (like I have) to get the right shot!

That is absolutely beautiful, Barb! One of my favorite barns scenes! I do like the window decal, although I can see the other point regarding thieves, too.

I think that is a good shot...I was thinking like Tex...need a version of the sign that we put on when on a shoot and take down the rest of the time.

Cheaper idea would be make a small poster and tape it to the inside of the window...my hubby does that with his "coyote hunter hunting with owner's permission" sign so busybodies won't call the county sheriff on him.

I think you did a great job...and you really wanted it bad making 3 trips around!

Great barn. I want a bumper sticker that says This vehicle stops for barns. Super idea.

Ha! You went around three times! What we bloggers will do to get the shot we want. :))

That's a great barn shot after all your efforts to capture it! lol One of those signs would be great it if was magnetic and could be stuck on the back of the car. One could remove it when not on the 'prowl' for a good photo. :) Pamela

That is definitely a barn worth stopping for! Sometimes my heart is in my mouth when I dash out of the car to get a quick picture. : )

no no no, don't leave your camera in the car, that's how mine was stolen last year, right out of my garage... i forgot to close the garage door that night.

the barn shot is beautiful & i really like it in b&w =)

Love the shot of the barn! Seems like there's always cars coming up behind you when you want to take a quick shot. I always do better when hubby is herding the car. Yes, he will turn around and go back for me, but I limit the times I ask him to do that.

I say get the sticker. Personally I love it and just take your camera out. That thought about the thieves never occurred to me...am I naive or just a great believer in good?
