The birds...

I have been struggling with how to organize the hundreds of photos I took on our recent trip to South Carolina and Georgia.  While I’m still not sure I have a handle on it, I think I will kind of start in alphabetical order.  That means, I am going to post a few bird pics today.

We saw all these birds in and around Charleston, SC.  None of these birds is particularly exotic, but they all were more than happy to pose for me, so I was more than glad to capture them in my camera.

If you’re ever in Charleston and if you like birds, I would recommend a visit to Magnolia Cemetery where there are lots of water birds and to Folly Beach where the pigeons and grackles line up just waiting for you to take their picture.

A Brown Grackle gets away with something.

Blue Heron...mallard in the background.

Confirmed:  A Blue Heron

An Egret admires his good looks.

Not sure about these geese either.
Who says pigeons aren't good looking?

Beautiful- I love that you were able to capture them all in this way. They don't seem to know you are there at all.

Thanks! On second thought, I think that Green Heron is a Blue Heron. I think the fact that his neck is so folded threw me off. Still...

Great shots! Thank you for sharing!

Those geese look very much like our Toulouse geese, Barbara -- only the markings on ours aren't as pronounced.

Superb captures -- love that grackle. :)

the pigeons are my favorite today, they are so beautiful and the grackle is super shot, black birds are hard to capture detail and you did it.

Hi there - the gloss on the grackle is great. And I think pigeons are a much overlooked bird!

Exciting when you get so many bird shots it takes a fair amount of sorting to get them into a semblance of order.
That last shot of the grackle is superb as is the cute red-brown pigeon.
