What I found on the ground…

Last week when I was wandering around the yard, I found a couple of very cool things.

Look at these leaves that I found.  Don't they look like leaf lace?

And once again this year, we are lucky to have a turkey family roaming around our neighborhood.  They are fun birds to watch.  Rather awkward looking, they ramble through our area mostly in single file.  These days the baby turkeys are almost the same size as the adults that are there to guard and protect  them.  It’s always a hoot when something startles them and they fly up into the trees.  One of them dropped a feather in our front yard.  I picked it up and here it is.

very nice. the turkey feather is beautiful. some folks believe feathers are a sign of someone (passed on) who is thinking of you. :)

Your thumbnail in the linky caught my attention. My Granddaughters had recently visited and loved finding the turkey feathers in our yard.
Love the decayed leaf!

cool finds. this past few days we were in Boston and Wellesley and I came across several "fall" leaves, but couldn't get the troop to slow down enough for me to get a picture. Speaking of Boston - I absolutely love your pictures from your post the other day.

Dearest Barbara,

Wow, congrats with winning the beautiful butterfly drawing from TexWisGirl!
Your photos are incredible.
Guess what? My husband always kept such a lacy leaf in a tin for showing the students at his practical training college for mushroom growing. It is to show the life's cycle that there are different organisms that attack certain organic materials. The easily degradable parts are the first to go. What is left from your leaf is not as easily degradable and it is left for others to handle/attack it.
Nature is beautiful and you know how to capture it very well!
Sincerely with admiration,
Mariette

These only go to prove that as your blog title says, Barbara...Beaty is commonplace all around ...if we just look for it. The leaf is very beautiful.

Great post! I love the shadow of the leaves. I also love feathers. My dad collects the feathers he finds, and I often receive notes from him in the mail, and there will be a feather inside :-)
