A Gentle Kiss...

Well, it’s not official or anything, but when I looked out the window this morning, I realized that autumn is over.  There was a dusting of snow on the ground.  I know I am in a very slim minority who finds this change thrilling.  I love the way the cold air hits my cheeks when I walk outside on a day like this.  The air feels clean and refreshing…the snow, even a little one like today, a new adventure.

I’m not a Pollyanna though.  I know what is coming.  Snow and ice can be dangerous, inconvenient and disturbing.  Just as extreme heat and summer storms can be dangerous, inconvenient and disturbing.  But it is the way things progress here in the northeast United States and this weather is as it should be.  We can rail against it, for all the good that does, or we can accept it as the natural order of things.

Before we know it, it will pass as all things pass.

sweet shot and quote to go with it.

we're getting our first freeze in texas tonight (29F expected). it is too early to turn on the heat - some years it takes until early dec. before i have to. :)

you are blessed to live where you like the weather. i remember that first snow and loving it. that was many years ago. people should live where they like the weather most of the time. it is a good thing that some like cold and snow and some don't or we would be all jammed in one place. i love Florida but do not love the storms or the three months of summer heat... and if we did not have the weather to chat about...oh well. love the frosty photo

We had our first dusting too last night. And you are so right, there is nothing we can do about it, so it can either be an ordeal or an adventure depends on your perspective.

I had not heard that quote...love it. Nice picture, too.

I am not one for the cold weather, now. I just feel it so much these days. But I do LOVE snow, so have to accept the cold. LOL

Though in all honesty, that cold nip does feel so clean, doesn't it. I had never thought of that, but you hit the nail on the head.

Gorgeous photo! The snow looks magical. I love winter and snow, though we don't get as much in Virginia as you do up there. It's cold here, but no flakes yet.

I came this close (index finger to thumb) of using that exact quote today. The intro to each and every season is always so exciting and yes, our energy is better spent accepting it than railing against it.

Nice new header.

I'm with you! We've had snow on and off for nearly three weeks, and it'll probably hit 10 or 12 below tonight. Just think of the snowshoeing and skiing!

beautiful photo and quote..I like the amount of snow we may or may not get here, but experiencing a childhood winter a few years ago showed me I'd lost my fervour for the 'real' winters.
