What really knocks me out is a book that, when you’re all
done reading it, you wish the author that wrote it was a terrific friend of
yours and you could call him up on the phone whenever you felt like it.
That doesn’t happen much though.

~J. D. Salinger, A
Catcher in the Rye
J. D. Salinger said it much better than I
could although it seems to happen to me more often than it did to Holden Caulfield. Because I sure wish I could call George R. R. Martin, Haruki Murakami, J. K. Rowling, Neil Gaiman, Terry
Pratchett, Henning Mankell, Kate Atkinson and the list goes on and on and on and on…although I would be too tongue-tied to say anything that made sense.
