We are pretty much an Amazon Wish List family and rely
heavily on it when one or another gift-giving opportunity arises. So just for the heck of it, I put a Lensbaby
on my Amazon Wish List. Still it was a
complete surprise when I opened my birthday gift from Greg this year and there
it was.
In case you have never heard of the Lensbaby, it is a
creative tool that mounts directly onto your SLR and allows you to tilt the
lens for imaginative effects. It would
take too long here to try to explain why and how this works and I’m not sure I
could do it anyhow. If you click on the yellow Lensbaby above, it will take you to their website that can tell you more. But I think it will
be great fun messing around with this lens.
Today I am going to post a few photos I took with the
Lensbaby. The pictures of the bowl of
marbles are not what I was expecting at all.
I was going to delete the whole batch but when I looked at them closer,
I liked the shapes of the light reflecting off of the marbles so I decided to
keep them and to do a few abstracts.
The daylily and daisy pics give a better idea of what kind
of focus can be done with the Lensbaby. They
are both pretty crummy pictures though. I
am going to keep practicing until I get it to do what I want it to do.
And here is a self-portrait I took using it. I like that it is a bit blurry around the
edges because most of the time, that’s how I feel.
