Scavenger Hunt Sunday...

Another Sunday...another Scavenger Hunt.  Here are the prompts:
Glow, Old, Shadow, Spring and Smile.  And here's what I came up with.

On my way home from the grocery the other day, I noticed that the pond was nice and flat and the sun was in an interesting spot.  I had to stop.  Here is Blueberry Island with a nice GLOW.

What's better than an OLD barn?   Nothing!

A ride out in the country this time of year reveals lots of tree SHADOWS.

There isn't a whole lot of stuff springing out around here yet but Carrie and I came across this nice row of willow trees the other day.  I love how they turn gold in the SPRING.

Question of the day:  Do Bearded Dragons SMILE?  I think they do.

Hunting in North Adams…

If you read my last post, you know that my daughter Carrie and I took an overnight trip out to North Adams, Massachusetts, which is a town located in the Berkshire Hills near the Massachusetts – New York border.  North Adams was an old mill town back in the day.  These days it is a town filled with a lively art scene primarily because of the opening of the wonderful Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art (MASS MoCA) in 1999.  While we were in North Adams, we stayed at The Porches Inn, which is right across the street from the museum.

All of my photos this week for Ashley Sisk’s Scavenger Hunt Sunday are from that trip.  The prompts for this week are:  Time to Eat, Getting Ready, Playtime, Sweet Dreams and Scrub-a-dub.  I did have to stretch the limits a little, but I managed to get something for each prompt.  And here they are:

As part of the turn-down service at Porches, we each got a couple of these lovely little handmade chocolate mints.  It was Time to Eat!

At MASS MoCA, there was a section of the museum that was having new walls put up and painted.  They were Getting Ready for a new exhibit.

For me, and for Carrie too, I think, going to places like MASS MoCA is like Playtime.  Here, Carrie is posing at the end of one of Sol LeWitt's wonderful huge paintings.   I really liked the reflective quality of this particular one.

The Porches Inn is a really neat place to stay.  It is built in old block of Victorian Row Houses that are located right across the street from MASS MoCA.  Here's a photo of our room.  The rooms are decorated with retro furnishings that are very attractive and fun.  And the beds are très comfortable.  Mine certainly allowed me to have Sweet Dreams.

The bathrooms at Porches are also very nice.  Ours had a claw-foot tub and a large shower with a rainforest shower thingy.  Here is a bit of the tub.  If there were three men in it, it would be like the old nursery rhyme,  Scrub-a-Dub Dub, Three Men in a Tub.  I actually think it's Rub-a-dub dub, but who's really keeping track.

We had a great time and I hope we'll be back at some point in the future.  I am not done with all my photos from this trip, so be prepared...there's more to come.

Scrounging around for the Scavenger Hunt...

I just took my last photo for this week's Scavenger Hunt about a half hour ago.  Nothing like putting things off til the last minute.  Here are this week's prompts:  missing, numbers, purple, music, bracelet.  And here are my entries:

Looking at this photo, you may wonder what is MISSING.  Well, about a year and a half ago, this hill was covered with trees and other foliage.  But the tornado that passed through the area on June 1, 2011, took care of all that.  The hill has been cleaned up but where are the trees?  They are MISSING.

My son proudly shows off the NUMBER panel on his new iPhone.

I want to know why they are called "red" onions.  To me, this onion looks pretty darn PURPLE.

These books contain the MUSIC that we sing in church on Sunday.

I am not a BRACELET person.  I really don't like the feel of things around my wrists, but this particular BRACELET came with a necklace I bought and I've never given it away.  Note to self:  ask Carrie if she wants this bracelet.

Back in the Hunt!

It has been a month and a day since I got my new knee.  Generally speaking, I am doing well with it.  I'm still battling the fatigue factor but I am hopeful that that will go away soon.

In this past month, I have done very little with my camera but I did manage to put a few together for this week's Scavenger Hunt.   Here are the prompts for this week:  Home or Thankful, In the Kitchen, Couple, Bubbles and Trees.  And here are my entries:

Home sweet home!

Here's a glimpse of my merry, messy kitchen.

A couple of cute little visitors to our bird feeder.

I have a bottle bubbles and intended to take a picture of a few of them floating around, but it was so windy here yesterday that they just kept flying toward the house and getting stuck on the slider.  So this is what I got.

This is our European Beech tree that  sits in our front yard.  It's a beautiful tree and always the last to lose its leaves every year.

Scavenger Hunt Sunday once again…

We have had such beautiful weather here in central Massachusetts this past week that it wasn’t hard to get inspired.  Here are the prompts for this Scavenger Hunt Sunday:  cracked, fallen, ordinary color, bokeh and fence.  And here are my entries for this week…

Cracked:  What is the first thing you think of when you hear the word cracked?  My first thought is of an egg so that’s what I took.

Fallen:  Fall is just starting to fall around here.  Here’s an early fallen leaf that I found on our outdoor furniture.

Ordinary Color:  I wasn’t sure what this prompt meant, but when I was wandering around looking for fallen leaves, I saw that our little daylily decided to bloom again.  It’s an ordinary color.

Bokeh:  Those of you who aren’t into photography, might not know what “bokeh” means.  Here’s the definition:  Bokeh simply means fuzzy or out of focus. It is used to refer to the effect of shallow depth of field that creates a pleasing blur of color behind the subject.

Fence:  I guess this is really a wall but isn’t a wall just a really substantial fence?

A Hunt for Sunday…

I was actually ahead of the game this week.  I have all my selections ready for this week’s Scavenger Hunt.  The prompts are kiss, askew, fragrant, simple and plant.  And here’s what I have:

Kiss:  My favorites…dark chocolate.

Askew:  I don’t mind if the sign is askew as long as the pizza isn’t.

Fragrant:  These next two are interchangeable.

Simple:

Plant:
