Horses, fences and 5 random thoughts…

1)  The events happening in Boston right now are simply surreal.  I am having a hard time wrapping my head around all this and am wondering how long it can possibly go on.  I have no idea whether or not it is the best way to handle this hunt for the Marathon bomber, but I do know that the news coverage is over the top.  For one thing, I think it is appalling that there is no mention on the national news of the tragedy in West, Texas.  There has been so much time wasted on pure speculation about what is going on in Boston, where this person is, who he may or may not be affiliated with.  Sure, it is important that we stay informed, but there is other stuff going on in the world that is important, too.  I want them to take some time away from trying to guess what may happen to tell us some concrete facts about what is happening.  Rant over.

2)  At times like this, I sure am glad we live in the country.  We are an hour west of Boston and if we didn’t have a television and didn’t check facebook, we would have no idea what is going on there.  But I feel for the people who live there and have been on pins and needles all day.

3)  In order to stay sane, we are going to a rock and roll music trivia night tonight.  We bid on it and won it in a silent auction last year.  This should be fun.  The contest is four against one.  The one happens to be a friend of ours who is a musician who, according to those who have played him before, can’t be beat.  The chance is good that his streak won’t be broken tonight, but we’ll have fun trying.

4)  You know, I love my Toyota Prius, but one of my keys needs a new battery.  In order not to forget that, I put a note on my calendar that shows up every Monday and says “Think about Prius Key.”  It has been there for about a month and a half and, by golly, I haven’t thought about it once when I could do anything about it.  I guess that method doesn’t work.

5)  I don’t understand Google+.  Help!

Barb -- Google+ is/was Google's attempt at mimicking Twitter or Facebook, I think. I don't spend any time on it, but I do share other people's posts there. I wouldn't worry about it.

You might want to see if your Trivia Night is still on since everything seems to be closed down around you. Just sayin'.

Love your horse photos -- they look like sweeties. :)

Stay safe!

Thanks for the info on google+. My daughter promised to give me a quick lesson and I will take her up on it if for no other reason than to make sure I don't accidentally end up there when I don't want to. Lol! Our trivia night will be on tonight. We are about 60 miles from where all the action is in the Boston area and aren't really worried about it coming out here. I just hope there is some resolution soon!!!!

Wonderful horse photos! I hope the situation in Boston will be resolved soon. I hear you about all the speculation that goes on. I just want everyone to be safe!

Have a good time at the trivia night! Sounds fun.

I agree with you on the news. Just tell me what happened. Then go back and tell me when something else happens.
Cute horses!

Nice pics...I agree...the media sensationalize what is happeing in Boston...While I do like being informed.. I am willing to wait to get the facts!

lovely horses. :) i agree - i detest the 'what if' 'experts' that are brought out to speculate in situations like these - no matter what the news topic.

i have a g+ account but almost never use it. i refuse to link to my blog. so many people lose their email link (so folks can't respond to their comments) when the use the g+ profile. plus it takes longer to load and then if they don't post their blog link, you can't contact them anyway. if blogger forces us to use it someday, that may be the day i leave blogland. :)

don't know anything about Google+, if you find out anything important let me know. I turned the news on this evening and it's just police officers roaming around the streets and the newspeople just repeating the same things over and over with a lot of speculation. I am certainly sensitive to the situation, but please don't sensationalize the incident, it may encourage other wackos.

Good looking horses! I've been on G+ since before it was available to the public and I still don't fully understand it. I do know it is very popular with photographers, including some big name pro's. G+ isn't as intuitive to use as Facebook (which I don't much like). I think many people who have tried it get too confused to continue. I haven't used it in several months, partly because I don't find it user friendly and partly because I spend time on Instagram, 500px, and Streamzoo. Too many social networks and not enough time. If your daughter clears things up for you, please let us know.

I hear you on the 'over the top' with news - add to that my husband's decision to hook up to get the Boston police scanner feeds. I had to finally resort to headphones and music at the computer - looking only at blogs and artsy stuff.

Hope you had fun at the trivia outing and sure wish I could send some helpful tips about Google+, but I am clueless. As it is, I am on Instagram For Dummies.

Barbara, totally agree with your comments (not rant) about the Boston tragedy new coverage overshadowing all other events, especially the West, TX tragedy. We don't watch TV and so get all our new coverage online and Boston has been overpowering everything. And, don't even get me started on ranting about WHY anyone's should care about the Kardashian clan, yet the media feeds that frenzy with incessant coverage.
Hope your evening out was a fun time. We all need stress busters.
