1) Yesterday was the first anniversary of my new
left knee. It seems that around the
three month mark after the surgery, I went to sleep with an achy knee and when
I woke up the knee no longer ached too much.
The healing was mostly done and it no longer felt like I had a foreigner
living in my body. These days, there are
times when I say that my new knee is the only joint I have that isn’t
hurting. I say that only partly in jest
because some days are a true challenge.
Such is the nature of arthritis unfortunately. The fact is, I am much better off with my new
knee and am very happy that the temporary suffering from the surgery was well
worth the end results. I probably
wouldn’t have gone out to take these shots last year prior to the surgery
on my two aching knees, but am willing to move around more with only one aching
knee.
2) So I’m on Day 123 of my Flickr 365. I say that with trepidation because I
discovered earlier this week that I had mis-numbered my days. I tend to do this with numbers: 24, 25,
26, 27, 26, 25, 26, 62, 63, 64, 65…
So that I’m never quite sure whether or not I’m coming or going. As far as my 365 is concerned, I thought I
could keep this from happening by keeping a running list of my days written in
a notebook. Well, lo and behold, I did
the same thing on my running list in the notebook that I did on Flickr only on
a different day. So I had two mistakes
that needed to be corrected. It took me
about an hour to put things right. Now I’ve
discovered that in my 365 set, I have 122 pics but I’m on Day 123. I know I haven’t missed a day. Can you hear me screaming? I just don’t get along with numbers. Well, I’ll think about that later. Here’s my latest entry.
3) I remembered that I promised you a look at my
creations from last week’s Craft Night.
Here’s a collage of what I came up with.
The rose print is made from the end of a celery stalk. Otherwise, I was feeling pretty geometric.
4) The Titmice have been at the peanuts on our
peanut feeder like there’s no tomorrow.
They are so cute. It’s hard to
begrudge them anything.
5) Well, the Red Sox and the Cardinals are even up
after last night. We have this evening
off from the tension of the World Series as the teams travel to St. Louis. I think these teams are pretty evenly matched
and who will win is anybody’s guess. But
I have to say that we had such an enjoyable baseball summer watching the Sox
that, win or lose, I am happy with them.
Still it reminds me that baseball season is winding to an end. Halloween is upon us, followed closely by
Thanksgiving. Soon it will be 2014.
What the heck? Where does it go?

It travels across my face.

love the titmice. so stinking adorable.
congrats on your 1 yr anniv. w/ your new knee!
Happy anniversary to your new knee:) it does make a difference I have heard from others.Take care.
Love the end of the celery end it makes an amazing print.
Oh yes time does go fast. B
Congrats on your knee--glad it is doing well! I love that rose print--who knew that the end of a celery stalk could make that design? I am the same way with numbers. If someone is reciting a number for me to write down, I have to visualize it before I write it down, or I transpose the numbers. It's weird.
Glad the new knee is working out! I love the first two photos with the fog! All are beautiful!
All great photos, Barb - I love the foggy water scenes. Who knew that celery could make roses? Sure glad you are out and about now. Yes, time slips away, doesn't it?
I can't believe it's been one year already, that went quickly for me ;)
What a cute little titmouse, you captured him well!!
love the celery rose.. i saw a recipe on how to make paint at home yesterday, now i will look to see what i have to paint with.. woo hoo more silly stuff for me to do. your first two photos look like the fog smoke coming out of a volcano, the red is the molten lava...
This may be a dumb question, though I had a professor say one time that the only dumb question is one unasked.
Is the craft night--is that on paper or fabric? I like them all...
Glad you had success with your knee.
Your crafting creations are MARVELOUS!
You made the roses with a celery stalk??? Amazing! So sorry Arthur lives with you....he isn't a nice companion. My grandmother suffered for many years with him. I am hoping I don't inherit that gene. Love you little bird on the peanut feeder!
Way to go with the knee surgery. My mom's didn't go as well for her and she still has a lot of pain from it. (Long story). I'm glad you got out and took pictures. Is that fog or dust in those 1st two shots? Very interesting.
Cool patterns from your craft night. I do love the Rose pattern from the celery. - The little bird is adorable. Cool looking feeder too. - Yes the year has certainly zipped by quickly. Not much of a BB fan here or even FB but the Bull Riding is winding down again. Thankfully it's back in January so the wait isn't as long as for other sports.
My! Aren't you crafty and creative!!! They turned out great!!!!
My oldest sister had knew surgery .... she's happy she did. She's out there walking every day now. But she can predict the weather before the weathermen can! :-D
Take it easy with that knee. Love the bird shot. So did the bird, it looks like. Aloha
Happy anniversary to your knee, Barbara, and may you both share many more happy years. I am not good with numbers either, but do manage to balance the checkbook each month. Yikes, this year is going by quickly,
Love your paper creations Barb -- that's amazing really. So pretty!
And I need to get the peanuts out for our Jays... thanks for the reminder! :)
You are very creative!
I understand what it's like to live in pain. I hope you have plenty of less pain days ahead. I especially like the pumpkins shot and the one above it.
