1) We went to Worcester, Massachusetts this
afternoon and wandered around with our son Evan looking at possibilities for
apartments for him. He recently got a “promotion”
at work and is now a Learning Specialist at Quinsigamond Community
College. While it is STILL not full
time, it is regular and steady hours and he will be making quite a bit more money than
he was. We are proud of him. I have mixed feelings about him moving out
because he is a quiet, helpful and nice person to have around. But I know he wants to start moving his life
forward and I fully support that.
This photo has nothing to do with anything. |
2) You all probably know that yesterday was the International Day of Happiness. I didn’t
realize it until a friend of mine who works at Clark University in Worcester
posted a video on Facebook that showed people on Clark’s campus dancing along
to Pharrell Williams song Happy. A few clicks of the mouse and I was onto this
website that shows people dancing to the song all over the world and for 24
hours. I have to admit that it is kind
of addictive. I hope you all are having a happy day today.
This face makes me happy. |
3) One of the things I really like about watching those videos
of people dancing is that they are just regular people – some can dance and
others are rather awkward. I am of the
awkward camp and have never been comfortable dancing but I sure admire people
who dance like there’s nobody watching even when they don’t seem to have a
rhythmical bone in their bodies. I think
that is way cool! But you probably won’t
catch me doing it…ever.
4) Something that has made my husband happy is that they are
now selling Yuengling Beer in Massachusetts.
They started selling it on March 3rd. People were pretty excited at first, but I
think the initial excitement has worn off a bit. But I believe firmly that life is too short
to drink bad beer so I will probably have a Yuengling or two before it's all over.
5) I am happy for my friend, Karen Keough-Huff, who recently
published a book with Sarah Craig called Sarah’s
Hope. Here’s a description: “Sarah's Hope chronicles the challenges of an
individual born with disabilities. From birth to the present day, Sarah Craig
shares her life experiences through her writings, interviews, and journal
entries. This book provides a rare glimpse into the thoughts, feelings, hopes,
and dreams of a wonderful woman who has traveled a much more difficult path
through life than most of us. Sarah's strength, perseverance, resilience, and
faith should be an inspiration to all who read this book.” I haven’t read the book yet, but I look forward to reading it. Here’s a link to how to get a hold of it if
you are interested.

Well, I am in the awkward dance group as well! How I wish I could let loose! Best of luck on your friend's book.
A diverse and fun five! Your photos are always a treat. Good Luck to your son.
i have always been a gleeful dancer. :) i have been known to pull a lot of people off their chairs and onto the dance floor, too. that said, i think my sister is worse. she'll just go dance by herself if she wants. :)
olive is so cute.
I like the jellybean shot, it strangely makes me smile.
what a cute dog, his face seems somehow content, comfortable, perhaps.
hope you have a great day.
I love your happy list! Congrats to your son. I hope he enjoys his new job.
Olive is such a sweetie. Her eyes look so wise. She knows so much that we don't.
I have never been a comfortable dancer. I'm too self-conscious. Yet I enjoy dancing. Go figure.
A thoughtful post about happiness and as always lovely images to go along with it. Jelly beans make me happy while I am eating them and little Olive always puts a smile on my face...even when she looks as serious as she does in this b/w :)
How wonderful for your son. A great start for a great future.
That's a big step for your son, Evan, to move out on his own. Congrats to him though, on the promotion and moving on (and out). You will miss him I'm sure! (I know) Have a happy week ahead.
Always difficult when our kids start wanting to actually act like the responsible adults they are.
Great randoms Barb and I want those jelly beans! :)
Great photos! I agree with you on the beer comment....who's got time for that?! Thanks for sharing!
Yes, watchung the 24 hours of happiness website videos did mKe me feel happier, as does the son's music video every time I watch it. Like yiurself, I am not a dancer, except in my mind. Convrats to your son on his promotion and happy apt hunting. Yuengling was a favorite of Grenville's for many years.
Congrats to your son! Yuengling is some good beer! We can't buy it in KY, though.
Congrats to your son on his move up in the world, altho I know you will miss his presence. And it always makes me happy to see Olive!!
Well, I'm late to this party - but here goes: Jellybeans are fun and never need an invitation. I can't dance worth a lick, and while mostly I won't bust a move in public, I must confess to teasing the kids with a few back in the day when Best Buy blasted music over the PA in the parking lot. Like waving the red flag in front of a bull. It was my Motherly Obligation.
Congratulations to your son - this moving out and moving on stage of growing kids, while it sounds good, I just know I'll be whimpering and whining when it actually happens.
