I wish I could correct a grave wrong that was done before I was born. The year was 1940 and it was the year Gone with the Wind beat out The Wizard of Oz for best picture in the annual Academy Awards. I’m sorry, but they just got it dead wrong that year.
The injustice of it all came to my mind again the other day because I started reading L. Frank Baum’s The Wonderful Wizard of Oz something I meant to do for years. I am enjoying it immensely and it has brought back great memories. I think I have seen the movie more times than any other. I’ve seen it enough that I can replay whole scenes in my head. I can remember as a kid just waiting for those flying monkeys to come onto the screen…oh, the exquisite terror of it! And I don’t even mind that it is a musical although I do tend to be a curmudgeon about musicals. I simply don’t like them. But this one was done just right.
What does that have to do with the photos I’m posting today? Well, nothing, except that I am pretty sure we’re not in Kansas anymore.
These photos were taken along the Apache Trail Loop, east of Phoenix, Arizona.

Kansas Schmansas...I like that! Although I have to admit to liking Kansas too. I'm pretty easy to please as long as there is no music attached. lol.

I was never fond of GWTW, anyway... it was just too snooty for me! I remember watching a special on Wizard of Oz a looong time ago & they said that they had to shorten the movie because it was too long, but that GWTW was looong & they didn't make them shorten that movie... what in the world were they thinking? That was a horrible mistake... I agree w/ you! =)
