I decided to kill two birds with one stone today
and participate in Friday’s Fences and in A Rural Journal’s Random 5
Friday. Damn, I’m good…
Taken last year in Charleston, South Carolina |
My Random 5
1. I found out earlier this week that Worcester, Massachusetts, which is the closest city to where we live, has received the dubious honor of winning The Golden Snow Globe Award for being the U.S city with the most snowfall this winter measured in inches. At 108.9 inches, they beat out the runner up Syracuse, New York by about 12 inches. Yes, it’s been one of those years…
2. When I’m on Facebook at four in the morning, I’m always amazed that I’m not the only one. You people need to get some sleep!
3. I looked out the window this morning to see turkey tracks in the snow. That made me smile. You know, their feet are almost as big as my hands.
4. I miss my cats terribly. But it is not time to replace them yet. Well, special little beings that they were, they can never really be replaced, but you know what I mean.
5. I am currently involved in a discussion group about Voluntary Simplicity using the curriculum from the Northwest Earth Institute. This week, one of the things we talked about was multi-tasking and how it is not necessarily such a good thing. But apparently, old habits die hard.

i just wish i could still multi task, those days are gone forever lost in old age... beautiful house and fence and superb photo. we only waited 2 weeks when our Max died, the house was a tomb, we went away on a vacation because of the empty nest, and when we came home we rescued baby girl from her abusive situation, the we rescued Cooper and then Jake..
sweet photo. and congrats on the snowfall record! yikes!
i couldn't live without pets. in the past 31 yrs or so, i think i've been without a pet of some sort for a total of 3 weeks - maybe...
Well, we still have pug Olive to keep us company. I love her, but I love cats, too. Actually, this has been the longest I've been without a cat in my whole adult life after college. Cats somehow just speak to me in a different way.
Yes you are good! Happy Friday!
Good indeed!
Love that pic from Charleston, NC...what a grand place. (note to self, time to go back for a 2nd visit) I am not sure if you want us to congratulate you on your dubious most snow, but we just won the coldest start to spring in our parts. Wow, aren't we lucky!!??
Great post! really nice fence shot (I did a combo of FF and Random 5 myself!) and some very interesting facts as well!
I don't multi-task well at all anymore it seems -- fortunately I don't have to that much here on the farm. Lol.
Have a great weekend Barb and thanks so much for sharing your 5 facts. xo
you FB thought makes me laugh. ha. ha!! ( :
enjoy your weekend.
I'm sorry you're without a cat now. We have two cats. We had four, and lost two. We love them all dearly. They are wonderful companions and friends and are truly part of our family.
Congrats on the snowfall record! I am one of those odd adults who actually likes snow. We don't get nearly enough here in central Virginia!
Beautiful photo! That is a lot of snow. My goodness. The US record this winter?! I notice when I open my Facebook in the morning that a lot of people were around in the middle of the night too. Although a lot of my friends are 3 hours behind me, but still! Have a good weekend. May you not have snow!
Cats are such loving, beautiful friends to us. I know exactly what you mean when you say it's too soon.
Wow! That is a LOT of snow. lol. I grew up in Maine, but now live in Oregon, and we don't get the snow here. Just lots of the liquid kind. :) Sometimes i can't make up my mind whether i miss it or not...
Simplicity, how we all long for it, and haven't the slightest idea how to accomplish it.
that is so cute
Yikes! I didn't realize that about Worcester. I knew we had a lot of snow. Facebook at 4 am? Not me! Have a great weekend!
I cannot imagine getting that much snowfall in one year!
What is the downside to multitasking? Just wondering if it is that you don't fully enjoy either task...
Love the fence shot.
Wow...lots of snow there!
I am wondering why multi tasking would be a bad thing!!!!
That is such a lovely photo.
That is a lot of snow. I have to drive for hours to see the white stuff. Seems like I am always multitasking whether I want to or not.
Hugs~
We're women - we multi-task. 'Nuff said.
Love the photo with the picket fence. I wish my place could always look picture perfect.
